3. What is different about the new card?
New Look and enhanced technology: Card plastics have a new card design and are equipped with near field communication (NFC) technology to wirelessly transmit payment information to a merchant’s terminal when your card is held within 1-2 inches of the contactless symbol. The transaction is quick, secure, and seamless.
4. What is a “contactless” card?
Contactless cards have a special chip technology that enables you to “tap” your card at any ATM / Point of Sale (Store) terminal to instantly process your transaction. Contactless cards help prevent fraud caused by skimming devices placed on ATMS and other terminals, as well as provide more efficient transactions.
5. Where can I use my contactless card?
You can use your contactless card at any merchant that accepts contactless payments, such as grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and public transit systems. Just look for the contactless payment symbol at the terminal.
6. Will contactless transactions require the use of a personal identification number [PIN] or will it process as a normal debit transaction?
For point-of-sale (store) purchases, contactless transactions will process as a normal debit transaction. If the card is being used to request a cash back, or a cash advance at an ATM, a PIN will be required.
7. Will I need to re-enroll my card in my digital wallet (i.e. Apple Pay, Samsung Pay)?
Debit cards issued with the same number will continue to function properly in mobile wallets, however we do recommend that you re-enroll your card to display the updated design. Click FMI on mobile wallets.
